Changes may be coming to the Walworth County Communications Center. After more than two year’s of work, a Walworth County fire/EMS Study Committee is recommending the creation of a consolidated dispatch center. The new center would operate independently from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office. Currently the Sheriff’s Office oversees more than two dozen area police and fire departments, but some municipalities operate their own dispatch services. The consolidated center would report to the county administrator as an independent department. The study committee’s recommendations are not binding.
