Grant will help restore local prairie

A local environmental effort gets some financial support from a major chemical company. Welty Environmental Center Director Brenda Plakans says DuPont is donating $10 thousand to the prairie restoration project at Big Hill Park in Beloit. Plakans says the Clear into the Future grant is how DuPont has decided to identify their philanthropy goal of funding project intended to help mitigate climate change. Plakans says the money will be used to bring back goats to graze invasive plants on ten acres adjacent to Big Hill Park in Beloit, and then the group intends to plant vegetation better able to withstand the warmer temperatures anticipated in the future.
