The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office releases the name of the man who was shot to death Sunday morning in Janesville.
According to a news release, 40-year-old James C. Chestnut III of Joliet, Illinois died as a result of homicidal firearm related trauma.
Janesville Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 600 block of West Racine Street shortly after 5:00 Sunday morning and found Chestnut suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.
Investigation determined that the victim and the shooter had some sort of altercation at a house party prior to the shooting.
Janesville Police say the suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Corvasie Weaver of Joliet, Illinois. He is still at large.
