A local school district wants to help parents better deal with their children’s use of social media, video games, and screen time. Beloit Turner Middle School Counselor Allison Waldsmith calls the dangers very real. Waldsmith says the goal is to increase awareness about how social media and screen use is impacting student functioning. She says symptoms of anxiety and depression are increasing among youth related to screen time. To help families begin the discussion, Waldsmith says the documentary “Screenagers-Growing up in the Digital Age”, will be shown next week Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 6:00 until 7:30 at the high school.
