Felony charges dropped against Janesville man accused of firing gun into air

Prosecutors drop four felony charges against a Janesville man after a different man admits to the crime.
23-year-old Michael Black was originally charged with four counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety after a victim told police he shot a gun in the air around her and her children following a disturbance.
The criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court said Black was upset because his drugs were missing.
Assistant District Attorney Mary Bricco said another man involved in the incident, 22-year-old Cole Smith, admitted to being the one who fired the weapon.
Court records show Smith was convicted in June of misdemeanor charges of possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the incident, but no additional charges related to the shooting have been filed as of January 8.
The only remaining charges against Black were misdemeanor obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia, and he was sentenced Wednesday to 90 days in the Rock County Jail.
