A local police department catches more than drunk drivers during a federally funded special enforcement.  Janesville police were able to put extra officers on the road during a holiday “Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over” campaign during the second half of December last year.  This week they announced the results.  Deputy Chief Terry Sheridan says 17 arrests were made for intoxicated driving, which is more than usual for a two week period.  Sheridan also says other arrests included 54 for operating after revocation or suspension violations, eight drug arrests, five felony arrests, and 11 warrant arrests.  He says the additional effort year round would be a good thing, but current staffing levels don’t allow it.
