State Representative Amy Loudenbeck introduces a bill to reauthorize the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program.

The Clinton Republican says the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program was created in 1989 to preserve valuable natural area and wildlife habitat, protect water quality and fisheries, and expand opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Loudenbeck says the last state budget only reauthorized the program for two years and her bill extends that another eight years.

Loudenbeck says the reauthorization plan reduces the current level of annual bonding by approximately 30% and reduces overall spending by approximately 7%.
