A 33-year-old Janesville man who’s accused of being drunk when he caused the car accident that killed his passenger last year takes a plea deal in Rock County Court.
According to court records Thomas Bluhm plead guilty last month to OWI causing injury and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Additional charges of causing injury with a prohibited alcohol content, homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol content, OWI 2nd offense, and operating with a prohibited alcohol content were dismissed but read into the record.
According to the criminal complaint, witnesses said Bluhm was driving as fast as 100 miles per hour when he tried to pass a driver on Highway 14 in May of last year and crashed head on with another vehicle.
The only victim was 33-year-old David M. Savona, Bluhm’s passenger in the vehicle. The other driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Bluhm is scheduled to be sentenced February 28th.
