A well known member of local law enforcement is being honored at the capital Tuesday.  Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke says retiring Rock County Sheriff Chief Deputy Barb Tillman is being named a “Hometown Hero”.  Steineke says after looking into her length of service and what she’s done for the community, it was a “no brainer”.  He says the honor is for more than Tillman’s 37-years of service, but also reveres her as a trailblazer for women in law enforcement. Besides her service in the sheriff’s office, Tillman was also a founding member of the Wisconsin Association of Women Police, and was the recipient of the Mary Rita Ostrander Leadership ‘award for her continued acts supporting women in law enforcement.
