The Janesville Police Department announces a settlement with The Back Bar over police chief Dave Moore’s request to suspend or revoke its liquor license.
The two sides filed a settlement agreement, in which The Back Bar agrees to have its liquor license suspended for the entire month of April.
The settlement still allows the venue to host all-ages shows that don’t include any alcohol during that time, with police approval.
The Back Bar is also agreeing to post security at all exits of their premises during events, and they will be required to develop and post written rules for their events.
Chief Moore says this sanction can be the basis of a future suspension or revocation if further issues arise, but they will no longer hold a hearing for the liquor license in front of the Janesville City Council.
Moore previously sent a letter to the city outlining a November 23rd shots-fired incident on Kellogg Avenue near the south side bar following a private party at the establishment.
The two sides met before the city’s alcohol license advisory committee on January 17, which forwarded a recommendation to the city council to suspend the license.
