Beloit College unveils student union

Campus life is about to change for Beloit College students. College President Scott Bierman is excited for the opening of the school’s first real student union and recreation center. Bierman says he’s most looking forward to seeing hundreds of students in the facility using the space in ways previously unimagined. $38 million of renovation work went into converting the former Blackhawk Generating Station across the street from campus. Students will use an overhead bridge to cross Pleasant Street. A public open house is planned from 11:00 until 3:00 Saturday, and students will have free run of the more than 100,000 square-foot facility starting Monday.
