The City of Janesville will likely pay close to $15,000 to settle a claims related to two separate police squad car accidents.
According to a memo to the City Council from Assistant City Attorney Tim Wellnitz, a Janesville Police patrol vehicle was attempting to turn left from West Centerway Avenue onto North High Street in April of 2019 when it collided with a vehicle driven by Devin Loui that was going straight on Centerway.
Loui claimed property damage and personal injuries as a result of the crash.
In a separate memo Wellnitz describes a second squad car accident that occurred in November of 2019. In this case a patrol vehicle slid into a parked car on Randolph Road during icy conditions.
The City Council is expected to approve two settlements totaling more than $14,800 as part of their consent agenda at their regular meeting on Monday night.
