Milton Highway 26 by-pass five years later

A local community adapts to the construction of a highway bypass rerouting traffic away from its businesses. Milton City Administrator Al Hulick tells the Stan Milam Show on WCLO when the by-pass opened five-years ago, many business owners along the old Highway 26 corridor expressed deep concerns. Hulick says the city hasn’t seen any real attrition to the number of businesses. He says Parkview Drive has a zero-percent vacancy rate in in the old Highway 26 business corridor and the Piggly Wiggly plaza only has one or two vacancies. Hulick adds traffic counts have actually increased exponentially along other routes through the city including John Paul Road and Parkview Drive.
