The Veterans Plaza at Traxler Park in Janesville needs some repair after an accused drunk driver struck a brick marker with his vehicle.
A statement from the city of Janesville said police officers were dispatched to the park just after midnight last Wednesday for a traffic complaint of a possible intoxicated driver.
The male was arrested and cited for operating while intoxicated first offense, and the monument was discovered toppled at its base.
The Janesville Patriotic Society might pursue an insurance claim from the driver accused of causing the damage, and they received permission from the city to make improvements within the park, according to the statement.
The brick column was one of two markers at the beginning of the Medal of Honor Veterans Walkway, which was dedicated in 2005.
