The Beloit Police Department will be helping with security at the Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee this summer. Police Chief David Zibolski says the commitment is being made by a vast number of law enforcement agencies across the state. Some four-thousand officers are expected to help. Zibolski calls it common in these types of situations with a large venue for an agency to request mutual aid. The Beloit City council approved sending eight officers. Costs will be covered by the city of Milwaukee thanks to an anticipated 100-million dollar federal grant.
