Local woman leads state Public Defender Board

A local woman will be helping shape the future of the public defender’s office. As the new chair of the Wisconsin Public Defender Board, Regina Dunkin of Beloit would like more done to avoid wrongful convictions. Duncan would like better coordinated efforts to have programs in place and be more proactive in prevention. She’d also like to see the board work more closely with communities to hear what’s concerning to residents, and work together on solutions. Dunkin is also the first woman, and person of color to be appointed chair.
