Beloit triple shooting suspects facing charges, 11 months after incident

Two Beloit men are now facing charges for a deadly shooting nearly a year after it occurred.
31-year-old Gregory Carter Jr and 27-year-old Anthony Sims III are charged with party to the crime of first-degree recklessly endangering safety with use of a dangerous weapon.
A criminal complaint filed this week in Rock County Court accuses the two men of shooting three people in the area of Elm Street and Roosevelt Avenue back in March of 2019.
21-year-old Treron White of Beloit died as a result of the shooting, but neither Carter nor Sims are currently charged with homicide.
Carter was first arrested for his involvement back in March, but he was released from jail without any charges.
Officers issued an arrest warrant for both men earlier this week, and Carter made his initial court appearance Thursday when a court commissioner set a $50,000 cash bond.
Beloit police said the Wisconsin Attorney General’s Office is handling the prosecution of the case due to a potential conflict of interest with the Rock County District Attorney’s Office.
