Janesville woman ordered to serve 12 months in jail for 4th OWI with kid in back seat

A 44-year-old Janesville woman who was accused of driving drunk with an unrestrained child in the back seat will spend a year in the Rock County Jail
As part of a plea agreement Tavia St. John pleaded guilty Wednesday to operating while intoxicated 4th offense with a passenger under 16, and a second charge of operating while a prohibited alcohol content with a passenger under 16 was dismissed but read in.
In addition to the jail time, Judge Karl Hanson ordered St. John to serve three years of probation.
According to the criminal complaint, St. John nearly struck Janesville Police officer with her vehicle in July and when he finally caught up with her she displayed signs of impairment and had a six-year-old in the back seat that wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
