Beloit man sentenced to prison for delivering fatal dose of heroin

A 37-year-old Beloit man who sold the fentanyl-laced heroin that took the life of a woman in December of 2018 is sentenced to seven years in prison.
According to online court records Chaz C. Harris pleaded guilty last week to a single count of first degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs in Rock County Court.
According to the criminal complaint Harris sold heroin to a woman who later overdosed and died in her vehicle in the Woodman’s parking lot. Harris wasn’t charged until May of 2019.
In sentencing Harris Judge John Wood strayed from recommendation of the defense and the prosecution which was five and a half years.
Judge Wood also sentenced Harris on Friday to 10 years of extended supervision.
