The Janesville Police Department is facing a little more scrutiny than usual this week. Assessors from the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group are here to examine all aspects of the department’s policies, procedures, management, operation, and support service. Chief David Moore says the verification by WILEAG is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, which is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. As part of the process, public comments will be taken by phone at 608-373-3485 from 1:00 til 3:00 p.m. Wednesday. The police department was first accredited in 2000, and must be re-accredited every three years.
