A local police department’s efforts to collaborate with the community will include a refresher on traffic stops. Beloit Police Chief David Zibolski says this is an area where law enforcement and the community has had a lot of confrontation. Zibolski says it’s also an area of a large amount of misunderstanding and lack of knowledge. He says the goal of a “Conversation with the Community” is to let folks know their rights and obligations, as well as, the parameters of the police. The chief says the first couple seconds of engagement between the motorist and officer can lay the groundwork for how the entire experience will go. “Conversation with the Community” is planned form 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Merrill Community Center on Wisconsin Avenue.
