The Janesville City Council is scrambling to find a solution for the situational homeless as an ordinance that allows them to park overnight in a city lot is set to expire at the end of this month.
Assistant to the City Manager Maggie Darr says on average only 0.4 vehicles used the lot across the police department on any given night.
When the homeless parking program was at North Traxler Park and average of four vehicles a night used the lot.
If the City Council were to take action at their next meeting to extend the parking program, they would also have to take action to suspend the first reading of the ordinance.
