Janesville City Engineer Mike Payne has been on the job 20-years and he can’t remember any bigger sink hole than the one that opened up Wednesday on Ruger Avenue between Hillside Court and South Harmony Drive. Payne says the exact cause hasn’t been determined, but it appears the 1950’s era storm sewer piping gave way and the surrounding debris washed in. He says the sink hole is more than ten-feet deep. Work crews expect to complete repairs by Friday.
