The Rock County Health Department is apparently calling the shots during the current coronavirus induced state of emergency. Rock County Administrator Josh Smith says, with the Governor’s declaration, certain powers are transferred to the health officer. This allows the health officer to create orders for such things and limiting the size of gatherings or quarantining individuals. Smith says the current goal is to slow the spread of the virus and “flatten the curve” in order to prevent health resources from being overwhelmed.
