The School District of Janesville will be distributing grab-and-go meals while schools are closed.
Superintendent Steve Pophal said the meal program will be open to all children 18 years of age or younger, regardless of whether they attend school.
However, the FDA limits families to one meal package per child present during pickup, so parents are not allowed to take extra meals home for other children.
Pophal said the meals will include a lunch and a separate breakfast for the child to use the next morning.
The meals will be available Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. starting March 19 at eight school locations:
- Craig High School
- Parker High School
- Marshall Middle School
- Edison Middle School
- Madison Elementary School
- Wilson Elementary School
- Van Buren Elementary School
- Jefferson Elementary School
Pophal said the district will be monitoring the usage of each school to determine if other locations will need to be opened to serve district families.
