Alliant Energy pausing disconnections for non-payment during COVID-19 crisis

Alliant Energy won’t be shutting off power to customers who can’t pay their energy bill during the coronavirus outbreak.
The company said it is temporarily suspending disconnections for customers in Wisconsin and Iowa during the public health emergency.
Alliant plans to waive late fees in Iowa and “will collaborate with partners and organizations in Wisconsin to offer a similar solution,” according to a news release.
Alliant is encouraging customers to use its website or app to set up payment plans based on their ability to pay.
The Alliant Energy Foundation also announced a $100,000 donation to aid in COVID-19 relief, including $70,000 to Feeding America Food Banks and $20,000 to the American Red Cross in both Wisconsin and Iowa.
