The YMCA of Northern Rock County wants to know what level of child care is still needed during the coronavirus outbreak.
CEO Angie Bolson said the non-profit is prepared to reopen its doors to help watch over the children of essential workers, but they want to know how they can best help.
The downtown Janesville location could start offering child care as early as Monday, March 30, but Bolson wants to hear from the community about what types of child care is needed, such as the hours of operation and the ages of children needing supervision.
Bolson said the School District of Janesville agreed to provide meals for any children in the care of the YMCA during the day.
The facilities would remain closed to the public, allowing for more social distancing among the children and staff. The program would be offered to children from 6 weeks old to 12 years old and cost $5 per hour.
The Y is asking interested parents to contact its Youth Development Director Melody Beets at (608) 868-9622 extension 105, or via email at mbeets@ymcajanesville.org.
