Beloit officials say they’re proud of the city’s commitment to urban forestry management. The award from the Arbor Day Foundation recognizes communities with a tree board or department, tree care ordinance, an Arbor Day observance and proclamation, and an annual forestry budget of at least $2.00 per capita. This is the 32nd year Beloit has enjoyed the honor. Ironically, because of the COVID-19 outbreak, this year’s Arbor Day event won’t be held publicly, but will be recognized through social media.
