Wisconsin’s safer-at-home order might be a good time for Beloit residents to get some yard work done.

The City of Beloit is offering free yard waste collection through the month of April to help promote social distancing and reduce potential exposure to COVID-19.

Normally, bags or containers with yard waste require designated stickers from the city that cost $2.00, but the public works department is waiving that requirement for the entire month.

The city said the collection will occur during the weeks of April 6 and April 13 on residents’ regularly scheduled trash day.

The eligible yard waste includes contained leaves, brush, shrubbery and grass clippings.

The city doesn’t want residents to have to make unnecessary trips to dispose of their yard waste and risk further spread of the coronavirus.
