No more votes will be cast in Wisconsin’s spring election, but the results of Tuesday’s races won’t be posted for another six days.

Rock County Clerk Lisa Tollefson said the full results won’t be released until after 4:00 p.m. on April 13 as clerks across the state receive more absentee ballots by mail.

Those votes had to be postmarked by April 7, but clerks have to wait until April 13 to make sure they all arrive and can be counted.

Tollefson reported over 9,600 votes cast in-person in Rock County on Tuesday, which exceeded her expectations because of a high volume of absentee ballots coming in. Over 32,000 people voted early, either in-person or by mail.

Tollefson said the lines at polling places moved slow and steady throughout the day. She credited the significant preparation in each municipality to help keep voters as safe as possible.

Poll workers said voters thanked them for their efforts, including 20 members of the Wisconsin National Guard who filled in where they had shortages.
