Beloit police are working with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department on a death investigation after officers found a dead body Tuesday night.
The two law enforcement agencies released a joint statement Wednesday after locating a deceased male around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Royce Avenue in Beloit.
The preliminary investigation by officers determined that the death did not occur within the city of Beloit, and the involvement of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department suggests the male died in Illinois before his body wound up across the stateline.
The initial call into Beloit police reported the body in a vehicle, but officials have not confirmed any other details about the death or the investigation.
