Local municipalities could see reimbursements in COVID-19 fight

As local municipalities rack up costs in the fight against COVID-19, some financial relief may be available from both the state and federal government. Janesville Finance Director Max Gagin says the city is closely tracking all personnel and operating expenses related to the pandemic. Gagin says much of it may be reimbursable through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The city has already invested more than 4000 personnel hours and $800 thousand on the crisis. FEMA could kick-back up to 75 %, and the state might also reimburse up to 12 1/2 % of qualified costs.
