Janesville adding four-way stop signs on downtown Court Street

The City of Janesville is putting in additional stop signs on downtown Court Street for added safety.
Senior Engineer Ahna Bizjak said the intersections with River Street and Jackson Street will become four-way stops.
The city will put up message boards notifying drivers of the change for a week before the signs go in and a week after.
The intersections previously had traffic signals that were removed when Court Street was converted to two-way traffic.
City council member Paul Williams said he was glad to see the city conduct a traffic study after reporting more crashes at those intersections.
The Jackson Street intersection will temporarily have LED lights on the stop signs, while the River Street intersection will have double stop signs on the pedestrian walkway and the normal posts.
