Police are slowly releasing more information about their investigation into the dead body found in Beloit on Tuesday night.
Officers identified the victim as 18-year-old Jwan J. Lamon of Janesville, and police are now calling it a homicide investigation.
The Beloit Police Department is working with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department after determining the death was not caused in Beloit, which suggests Lamon was killed in Illinois before his body was brought across the stateline.
The body was discovered in the 1600 block of Royce Avenue in Beloit around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Detectives determined he was the intended victim of a targeted killing, and this was not a random homicide.
Police are asking anyone with information about the homicide to contact either law enforcement agency.
