Governor Tony Evers’ extended safer-at-home order allows golf courses to reopen, and area business are happy to let customers hit the links.

Creekview Par Three owner Niki Lenox said her kitchen remained open for takeout orders, and her regular golfers have been clamoring to get back out on the course.

Evers’ order still prohibits the use of golf carts, and it requires all tee times and payments to be made in advance, online or by phone.

Lenox feels she has an advantage because her nine-hole course near Edgerton is more walkable than other longer venues.

Her team was already implementing increased sanitation and social distancing practices before golf courses were initially shut down in the Governor’s first order.

Creekview put in raised cups so golfers don’t have to touch a flag or put their hands in the hole to retrieve the ball. They’ve also removed ball-washers and rakes in sand traps in an effort to reduce the number of surfaces golfers will touch.

Evers’ new guidelines don’t go into effect until 8:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, when the original safer-at-home order was set to expire.
