Staff at UW-Whitewater will be taking a little unpaid time off to help the school recover from losses incurred through the COVID-19 crisis.
Chancellor Dwight Watson Tuesday announced planned furloughs could cover about $5 million of an anticipated $9 million shortfall. Watson says he’s hopeful federal aid “may cover the rest.”
Watson adds COVID-19 has changed the way we live, work, study and learn.
He says everyone across the state and nation is feeling the impact of this pandemic.”
The furloughs are intended to continue employee benefits, such as health insurance and vacation and sick leave.
The employees will also be able to return to the job.
