The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what caused a large fire in a Town of Milton campground.
Fire officials responded to 12 trailers on fire at Lakeland RV Campground just after 6:45 p.m. Tuesday night, none of which were occupied.
Eight fire departments including Milton, Janesville, Edgerton, Evansville, Clinton and the Town of Beloit assisted in fighting the blaze, which left only two trailers salvageable.
It took firefighters two-to-three hours to control the fires, and they temporarily shut down a small portion of Highway 59 as a result.
The sheriff’s department is working with the state fire marshal on the investigation.
