Two employees at the Hormel Foods plant in Beloit test positive for COVID-19.

The Rock County Public Health Department formally shared the announcement on Friday after the company reported its first positive case earlier last week.

Hormel said it is quarantining the two affected employees and all of their close contacts. The food producer will continue to pay the quarantined workers 100 percent of their base salary and benefits while they are away from work.

The Beloit plant will stay open, and the company is implementing “enhanced operating protocols” including on-site nurses taking employees temperatures daily and increased sanitation.

Hormel has voluntarily paused operations at three of its production facilities across the country, but it has seen minimal disruption to its supply chain.

The Beloit plant has been running since 1973, producing salsa, chili, hash and spam.
