Some Janesville residents may get a little help with their housing needs thanks to increased Community Development Block Grant money. The city expects to receive an additional $286 thousand this year through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act. Officials say the funding will be used to assist residents suffering economic difficulties as a result of the pandemic. Janesville typically gets close to half-a-million dollars a year through this grant program to address the housing and other economic needs of low-income residents. Funding through the CARES Act represents an approximate 60% increase over the City’s annual funding.
