The City of Janesville is looking to facilitate economic recovery through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Economic Development Director Gale Price unveiled the city’s proposal during Monday night’s city council meeting, which outlined the areas the local government can address.

The draft plan includes marketing local businesses, providing additional local funding, coaching businesses, altering tax incremental financing agreements and lobbying the state.

Price said his staff took input from stakeholders and local businesses to gauge the most pressing needs and what the city can do to help.

The city is limited in what kind of stimulus it can input to the local economy, but Price sees their role more as stabilizing impacted businesses and collaborating resources.
