Local Congressman pushes for timely economic relief

The latest Covid-19 economic relief package, already passed by the House of Representatives, is in the hands of the U.S. Senate, but a local Congressman says they have yet to offer any input on the plan. Mark Pocan of Madison tells Your Talk Show on WCLO time is running out to provide much needed relief to struggling families and businesses. He says funding for the current CARES Act runs out in just a couple of weeks. The Democrat says doing nothing is not acceptable. Pocan also suggests considering cuts to the defense budget as a way to pay for the trillions of dollars needed for pandemic relief. He admits cutting defense spending would be difficult because virtually every Congressional district benefits from its spending, and it’s the only department that’s never audited.
