The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office identifies a Janesville woman as one of two fatalities in a residential fire in Madison last week.
21-year-old Keani Braxton died as a result of injuries sustained in and because of the fire in the 2100 block of Seminole Highway.
Firefighters were dispatched just after 3:00 a.m. last Thursday and found flames showing out of the back of the home.
Two occupants escaped on their own, while Braxton and 32-year-old Brent Broge of Madison remained trapped inside and died.
The Madison Fire Department says the fire started on the screened-in back porch, likely caused by either faulty electrical wiring or improperly discarded smoking materials.
Firefighters believe it was not set intentionally.
