The City of Beloit is considering expanding Beloit Transit System routes to make them more streamlined and user-friendly.
The city council heard the first proposals for new bus routes this week that would cover a greater percentage of the Beloit population and employers.
The Beloit-Janesville express route would not be affected, but the city is looking to include the Gateway Business Park and the Town of Beloit Business Park as part of its new local routes.
Deputy Community Development Director Teri Downing said the city conducted surveys and listening sessions to gather public input, and the city council will hold a public hearing when the proposal is finalized.
The Beloit Transit System could potentially expand its hours and add another bus to the fleet, but the cost for riders would stay the same.
