Beloit’s minor league baseball team might not be called the Snappers much longer.

The team announced Tuesday it is looking for suggestions from the public for what its name should be next season when it opens its new downtown stadium.

General Manager Jeff Gray said they want to update the team’s image and usher in a new era with new ownership.

The Snappers will narrow the suggestions down to a list of finalists and let fans vote on what name they like the best.

Gray said they are open to keeping the Snappers name if that’s what the public wants, but they would still update the 30-year-old logo for next season.

Fans have until August 18 to submit their input. After the vote on the list of finalists, Gray said the team would unveil the winner sometime over the winter.

The online form to submit suggestions is available here.
