Finance Director Max Gagin outlined for the council Tuesday some of the projected deficits. Among the anticipated losses, $200 thousand in interest on investments, $80 thousand in lower recreational fees, and $79 thousand less in room taxes. Coupled with potential cuts in state shared revenue, Gagin says Janesville’s 2021 budget deficit could range from $700 thousand to $1.6 million. The council will begin to review city staff proposals to balance the budget in October.
