The city has declared Lions Beach on Palmer Drive closed for the time being. Officials say the most recent water quality test resulted in elevated bacteria levels in the swimming area. The city’s recreation division takes weekly water samples to monitor E. coli bacteria and sends them to the State Hygiene Lab in Madison for testing. The most recent sample result requires the Recreation Division to close the beach until further notice.
