Beloit police are investigating a burglary and sexual assault in the 200 block of Adams Street over the weekend.
Officers responded to the home security alarm just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning when they arrived to find 35-year-old Derrell Riley and a female victim inside.
She told police he broke in to the home and threatened to kill her if she did not have sex with him.
When officers arrived, she said Riley told her to go outside and tell police that everything was OK. When law enforcement didn’t leave, Riley tried to flee on foot and was arrested after resisting and struggling with officers.
He is charged in Rock County Court with burglary and second-degree sexual assault. A court commissioner set a cash bond of $25,000 to ensure his appearance in court.
