Beloit Police Chief David Zibolski will officially leave the department on September 25 to take over as police chief in Fargo, North Dakota.

Zibolski issued a letter the community, thanking the public for its support during his five years at the helm.

He expressed pride for the progress the city made in reducing crime and increasing safety through strengthening community relations.

“We cannot stop there; these same goals must continually be strived for,” Zibolski wrote. “Beloit is now a part of my story and will always be remembered with pride and a strong sense of accomplishment.”

Last month, the Fargo city commission approved a conditional offer for Beloit’s police chief, which required him to complete background checks and physical tests.
