Town of Beloit exploring feasibility of new town hall options

The Town of Beloit board is exploring the feasibility of different options for a new town hall.
Outgoing town administrator Gene Wright said his staff looked into potentially adding an addition onto Fire Station number two.
They had an architect draft some preliminary estimates for that project back in 2005, which determined they would need to nearly double the size of the building.
Wright said the town’s needs for the town hall property have likely changed since then, but he thinks it might cost more to add onto the fire station than it would to build a brand new town hall.
The town’s administrative offices are currently working out of Fire Station number one as the township prepares to sell its abandoned former town hall building on South Afton Road.
Wright recommended that the town board use some of the money from selling the town hall to conduct a new feasibility study for the building.
