An early morning house fire in Janesville kills one person.
The Janesville Fire Department responded to the fire in the 1000 block of South Pearl Street just after midnight Monday morning.
Firefighters arrived to find a porch on fire with heavy flames throughout the structure and one occupant unaccounted for.
First responders located and removed the person from the structure, but the unidentified victim died from injuries sustained in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but fire officials estimate the damage at close to $100,000.
